Handmade Mother’s Day Gifts Galore

Before I became a mom I never really thought too much about finding the “perfect” Mother’s Day gift for my mom because she enjoyed the simple things in life. Til this day she loves a good book, a nice meal and a cup of tea. To be honest, I would totally love just an hour to read, let alone time for a whole book and a fabulous meal. She was on to something.

Now that I am a mom I realize just how important it is to celebrate motherhood. My own, my mother’s, grandmother’s and all my friend who are also on this journey. All of us are tied together with a common bond and its something really special when you stop and think about it.

I had so much fun picking the items for our annual Mother’s Day gift guide—so much in fact it’s brought to you in two parts this year!

Motherhood is life’s greatest challenge and greatest gift. Caring for littles is such a privilege that takes literally almost every minute of every day. But, we do need to remember to be kind and treat ourselves and each other!

I’ve always felt a mother’s greatest strengh is love, and worked to find items that embody that strength, love, ambition, and resilience. I picked items from shops that I feel value these same qualities. Many of them are made by mothers, for mothers.

Great Gifts For Your Little Valentine

It’s February, one my favorite months, filled with all things pink and hearts. We’ve made it through the first month of 2016, and as the stores fill up with candy hearts and stuffed teddy bears, I can’t help wanting to bring a little more love into our home.

For me, there is no joy in life is greater than seeing those little ones enjoy sweet Valentine Gifts at our annual heart-theme brunch. Heart-shaped pancakes are always on the menu along with berry toppings and bacon. So, while I admit I don’t go all out on tons of gifts for Valentine’s Day, I do splurge a little when it comes to handmade presents and food.

I can’t think of a greater way to celebrate a month full of sweetness than by loving on our littles a bit more than usual. So, I’ve put together a list of Great Gifts for Your Little Valentine from some of my favorite makers.

Applications Open for Media Partners And Bloggers

Kids Bloggers Wanted

Friends, I love blogging. We all know this. I’ve started about 10 blogs in my lifetime and this one, along with AndreaGenevieve.com have survived the longest.

Hooray! Let’s see how long I can keep this up 😉

I know there are plenty of awesome bloggers and photographers out there who are much more skilled in this media department than myself, which is why I’m on the lookout for four (4) partners to help me spread the word about the new Summer Sundae collection!

If you’re interested all you need to do it is fill out this form telling me your name, blog URL, niche and why you want to work with Hello Sunday. In exchange I’ll supply you with a free set of jammies and maybe some other special surprises too! To see some examples, take a look at our Press section. I’m looking to collaborate on product reviews, styled photoshoots and maker feature type of posts.

Have questions? Reach out to me at hello@shophellosunday.com I’d love to meet you!

*Please note this is not a call for models or toddler/mama brand reps. I’m specifically looking for blog content partners. That means if you’re a photographer you gotta have a web/blog presence too!
Don’t you worry, I’ll be having an open call for Brand Reps and Brand Enthusiasts in the fall for all you photo-savvy moms with cute kiddos*

Sunday Morning Whole Wheat Flaxseed Belgian Waffles

at the world's fair

Tomorrow I turn 31 years old.
Yep, the big 3-0 year is over, so when my sister asked me how I wanted to celebrate I immediately responded with: “Good food, family, and drinks by the pool.”

What better way to start the day then with a Waffle Bar! (I know, it’s like I’m turning 12. But seriously, any kind of make-your-own-food-bar is the best.)
Plus, it’s the 4th of July so red, white and blue toppings were in order.

Who knew that the classic breakfast “junk food” could be so healthy? These whole wheat waffles are dairy-free and contain real healthful ingredients, yet they still taste good! Did I mention how much fun they are to make?

With this tasty recipe, you and your family can enjoy a fun breakfast without feeling sick or guilty when you’re finished. Gather up some yummy toppings such as berries, different syrups or whips and make a waffle bar for your family the next time waffles are on the menu.

Whole Wheat Flaxseed Belgian Waffles

Yields approximately 8 waffles

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cups raw sugar
  • 3 tablespoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoons sea salt
  • 2 cups almond milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/3 cups canola oil
  • 1 teaspoons vanilla

Warm up your waffle iron first!

Mix all the dry ingredients together in a medium bowl, then add the wet ingredients and stir until mixed. When the iron is ready, pour in the batter and bake until your waffle is golden brown. Remove from the iron and enjoy with a yummy topping. Fresh berries are my favorite!

Happy Birthday America! Happy Birthday me!
